PAPAR: Aug 24, 2026 — Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has called on the public to use the internet safely and responsibly.
He made the call when launching the Papar District Safe Internet Campaign 2026 here on Saturday.
Armizan said rapid technological advancements and the increasing use of the internet require the community to exercise greater vigilance to avoid falling prey to online scams.
“The rise in scam cases from time to time shows that the public needs to heighten their awareness by using the internet wisely and responsibly,” he told reporters after the launch ceremony.
He noted that while the internet provides vast spaces and opportunities for the public, it is also being misused by certain parties to carry out unlawful activities, including scams and fraud.
The minister said the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS) is important for raising public awareness so that people are more cautious when using digital platforms and do not easily fall for various forms of online deception.
Armizan added that the spirit of independence must also be reflected through responsible use of digital spaces, including preserving social harmony and national unity.
He expressed hope that a culture of safe, ethical and responsible internet usage would continue to be strengthened among the people, contributing to the building of a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
Also present were Sabah State Information Department director Jainisah Mohd Noor; Limbahau assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim; Kawang assemblyman Datuk Seri Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar; and Pantai Manis assemblyman Datuk Pengiran Saifuddin Pengiran Tahir.
Earlier, Armizan also officiated the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) Papar District programme at the Sekayan Village Open Hall.
