MEMBAKUT: Aug 17, 2026 — The community should be made a strategic partner of the Government in disseminating policy information to the local populace more widely.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the community is the most accessible and effective intermediary medium for channelling Government information to the public.
“Every Government agency should treat the communities in their respective areas as strategic partners, as they are the closest medium for conveying organisational messages to the people,” he said.
He said this in a speech text read by Membakut District Officer Yuesri Ismail Yusof during the officiating of the Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy (KMJG) 2026 programme at the Membakut Wednesday Market grounds on Saturday.
According to Arifin, the programme also opened up avenues for the direct dissemination of information on Government policies and development to the community.
As such, he called on the public to enliven the National Month, Malaysia Day and Sabah Day celebrations through the 1 House, 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign.
Some 200 people attended the event, while 12 strategic partners took part in delivering services.
The KMJG 2026 Convoy at the Membakut state constituency level was led by Sabah Information Deputy Director Azman Sipan, along with 20 participants, before boarding a train from Membakut Station to Bongawan Station to distribute Jalur Gemilang flags and Sabah flags to passengers.
