KOTA KINABALU: Aug 7, 2026 — Sabah has been chosen to host the National-level Ijtimak Amal Islami Mualaf Madani (IJMAM) convention scheduled for September, reflecting the confidence in the state’s ability to organise the programme, said Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih.
He said the selection is both an honour and a significant responsibility for the State Government in ensuring the smooth running of the National IJMAM convention.
“I hope the selected participants will prepare themselves as best as possible and give their utmost to represent Sabah. Use the experience gained during the Sabah State-level IJMAM as preparation for the national stage,” he said.
“Insya-Allah, with the spirit of cooperation and commitment from all parties, I am confident that Sabah will be a good host and will successfully organise the National IJMAM convention smoothly and perfectly,” he added.
He said this when officiating the Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation of the Sabah State-level Ijtimak Amal Islami Mualaf Madani (IJMAM) 2026 at Wisma Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS) here on Wednesday.
The three-day programme, which ran from Aug 3 to 5, brought together 155 new Muslim converts from across the state who took part in various competitions including Al-Quran Recitation, Memorisation, Azan, Iqamah, Nasyid and Creative Video Competition.
In addition to the competitions, participants also took part in various recreational and sports activities aimed at strengthening relationships, fostering a spirit of togetherness and reinforcing brotherhood among the new converts.
“I believe this programme provides many valuable experiences, besides creating new friendships, fostering mutual understanding, exchanging experiences and further strengthening ties among fellow Muslims,” he said.
Isnin said IJMAM is not only a platform to recognise the achievements of new converts but also opens opportunities for them to deepen their religious knowledge through various educational content and organised competitions.
At the event, Anjung Pendidikan Penampang (APEN) was named the overall champion.
Also present were the Director of the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS), Datuk Awang Juri Ag Tahir, and the State Mufti of Sabah, Datuk Ustaz Bungsu@Aziz Jaafar.
