TAWAU: July 26, 2026 – The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) is continuing its efforts to help Malaysians cope with rising living costs through the 2026 MADANI KUSKOP Sales (JMK) programme, which offers daily necessities at affordable prices via cooperatives appointed as sales operators.

The programme was launched at the Sabindo Weekly Market grounds in Tawau on Sunday, officiated by Deputy Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin.

He said the initiative aligns with the MADANI government’s aspiration to ensure access to basic goods at lower prices, while also serving to stimulate local businesses. The programme, he added, provides cooperatives with opportunities to expand their business activities, reach wider markets and generate income.

Introduced in 2019 as a collaboration between KUSKOP and the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), the scheme is designed to ease the public’s financial burden and strengthen the role of cooperatives as catalysts for community economic development.

The deputy minister said the primary objective is to help people obtain essential items at reasonable prices, thereby reducing the pressure of rising living costs – particularly for low-income groups. The programme also empowers cooperatives as an inclusive and sustainable economic platform.

In 2025, some 235,195 visitors benefited from savings through the programme nationwide, with total sales revenue reaching RM8 million over the same period.

Mr Alamin said the figures demonstrated that the programme delivers direct benefits to the public and reinforces cooperatives’ position as strategic partners of the government in driving economic growth and community wellbeing.
