KOTA KINABALU: July 8, 2026 – Two primary school pupils have allegedly fallen victim to bullying and physical attacks by a classmate in two separate incidents at a school in this district.

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman, said the police received a report from the father of both victims on July 7, following which investigations commenced.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the first incident occurred on July 6, when a 12‑year‑old female pupil was allegedly kicked at the back of the head by a male classmate.

“The following day, the victim’s younger brother, who also attends the same school, was allegedly kicked in the stomach by the same male pupil.

“As a result of the incidents, the female victim suffered headaches, while the male victim is reported to have experienced trauma and fear,” he said in a media statement today.

He added that the complainant also alleged that the suspect had frequently harassed both victims through phone calls containing insults and had engaged in physical disruptions within the classroom since the beginning of the school session.

He said police are currently identifying the full identity of the suspect, in addition to recording statements from the victims, witnesses, teachers, and school administration to aid in the investigation.

“Medical examinations on both victims are also being conducted to determine the extent of their injuries,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, and Section 507(b) of the Penal Code.

He emphasised that the police take all forms of bullying and violence involving children seriously, and will conduct a transparent and thorough investigation.

Members of the public are advised not to make any speculations that could jeopardise the investigation or expose the identities of the children involved.

Those with information regarding the incident are urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Movendran Apoorvasamy, at 018‑5746310, or to visit the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
