“Please, those of you who are already married, give your testimony is marriage worth it or not?”

INDONESIA: Without a caption and without lengthy explanation, just one simple question uploaded by Indonesian TikTok user @namakuvivi on June 18, 2026. Who would have thought that the video would eventually garner over 1.1 million views, 68,000 likes, 7,643 shares, 5,112 saves, and 7,487 comments, as thousands of users came forward to share their experiences after tying the knot.

What initially seemed like an ordinary question eventually turned into a space for users to express experiences that perhaps had long been kept within their personal lives. Some shared stories after a year of marriage, others had built households for over a decade, and some had even gone through divorce. Each came with different stories, yet all tried to answer the same question.

Interestingly, the comments that received the most attention didn’t come from those who described marriage as something beautiful. Instead, the comments that garnered thousands of likes came from users who admitted to having good, loving, and responsible partners, yet still did not encourage others to get married.

Why did such perspectives receive so much attention? What did they go through that led them to leave such answers? Or is every marital experience truly different, such that no single answer can genuinely represent everyone?

Upon closer look, the comments that received the highest number of likes carried nearly identical messages. Interestingly, they didn’t come from users recounting marital conflicts or irresponsible partners, but rather from those who admitted to having good husbands.

A comment from user @vitsaprahadi received the most attention, garnering 8,629 likes.

“Even though I got the right husband, my advice is don’t get married.”

Not far behind was a post from user @iampretty, which received 3,944 likes.

“My husband is good and patient, but my advice is don’t get married yet.”

A similar tone was shared by user @Ewhiq_Aries, which received 2,610 likes.

“I have a husband who always fulfills my desires, and we already have a child too. But my advice is don’t get married.”

Although written in different phrasing, all three comments shared a common thread. Not one stated that their partner was irresponsible or failed to fulfill their role as a husband. Instead, they chose to share their experiences with a nearly identical piece of advice.

This perspective was also echoed by other users who shared similar experiences. Some chose to enjoy their youth longer before considering marriage, even if they had already met someone they considered suitable.

Another user, @Anjell, left an even shorter comment.

“Marriage is a dream killer.”

Behind those comments, many other users chose not to elaborate on their experiences. Some simply wrote that they wouldn’t recommend marriage to others, while others just replied to other users’ comments with agreement.

But the discussion didn’t end there.

Amid the thousands of comments carrying such tones, other users emerged who shared different experiences. For them, marriage not only brought happiness but also became a turning point that made their lives more organized and meaningful.

However, not all users shared the same view. Some described marriage as the best decision of their lives and had never regretted that choice.

One that stood out was a post from user @Myswt, which received 3,126 likes.

“For me, it’s worth it. My life became more organized and directed after marriage. My husband helps with household chores, never forbids me from working, and always appreciates the little things I do.”

For that user, marriage brought positive change to her life, and she appreciated her husband’s supportive and helpful attitude.

A nearly identical view was shared by user @Geminiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

“Trust me, marriage is that beautiful, that happy.”

Besides those who felt marriage was worthwhile, there were also users who believed the answer to the question depended on who one chose as a partner.

A user who received 2,153 likes wrote:

“It’s worth it, as long as the husband is the right one and the in-laws are the right ones.”

That view was also echoed by @sashimi, who received 2,329 likes.

“Worth it if it’s with the right person, btw I just got divorced.”

Even though she admitted to having just gone through a divorce, the user still maintained that every household experience couldn’t be generalized.

Also catching attention was a comment from @melon(wyss), who described marriage as “the longest act of worship.”

“If you ask whether it’s worth it or not, it depends on your effort. But if you ask whether it’s difficult or not, yes, it’s difficult.”

That comment became one of the most replied-to, with many users sharing their own experiences about the challenges of building a household.

The discussion that began with one simple question ultimately revealed various perspectives. Some saw marriage as a source of happiness, others considered it a heavy responsibility, and some believed it all depended on the partner and the efforts of both parties.

The discussion not only attracted the attention of those already married but also drew reactions from single users.

Some admitted to becoming increasingly afraid of marriage after reading the thousands of shared experiences.

User @fia, who received 1,605 likes, wrote:

“More and more convinced it’s fine not to marry after reading these comments.”

Another user asked:

“26 years old and not married yet, that’s fine, right?”

Not a few also chose to enjoy single life longer before making a decision about marriage.

Although thousands of experiences were shared, no single answer truly dominated the comments section. Some chose to share their happiness with their partners, others admitted that the marital journey wasn’t easy, while some believed it all depended on the person chosen to share life with.

Over 1.1 million views, 68,000 likes, 7,643 shares, 5,112 saves, and 7,487 comments later, the question posed by @namakuvivi continued to receive various answers from social media users.

Some answered with one word.

“Worth it.”

Some chose not to encourage it.

And the rest shared different stories, based on their own life experiences.

Over 1.1 million views, 68,000 likes, 7,643 shares, 5,112 saves, and 7,487 comments later, the question posed by @namakuvivi still continues to receive various answers. But to this day, no single answer is truly the same.

“Please, those of you who are already married, give your testimony—is marriage worth it or not?”
