KOTA KINABALU: Aug 16, 2026 — A total of 75 Sabahan women received their graduation certificates at the Graduation Ceremony for the Third Sabah Women’s Leadership Course 2025, held last Saturday. They are part of the Sabah Women’s Leadership Academy (AKWan) programme, which continues to drive the development of Sabah’s female human capital.

Sabah Minister of Women, Health and Community Wellbeing Datuk Julita Majungki, in a speech delivered by Assistant Minister Datuk Rina Haji Jainal, said AKWan serves as a leadership platform that is systematic, inclusive and high-impact.

“AKWan not only imparts knowledge, but also shapes character, confidence, leadership values and the ability to make effective decisions,” she said.

She added that AKWan encompasses four leadership categories, namely grassroots leaders, young leaders, political leaders, and leaders from government-linked companies (GLCs).

“Participants are also exposed to integrity, communication, critical thinking, conflict management and strategic networking,” she said.

Julita expressed hope that the graduates would utilise the knowledge and skills acquired to lead organisations, contribute to their communities and become agents of change.

The ceremony in Kota Kinabalu was also attended by Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Maria Chong, SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki, and Sabah Women’s Affairs Department Director Haslina Ismail.
