650 litres of diesel suspected of being misappropriated seized in Tawau

TAWAU: August 4, 2026 — A total of 650 litres of diesel, suspected of being misappropriated, were seized in an operation at an unnumbered house in Kampung Ulu Brantian at around 8.14 pm, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM20,000.

The seizure was a handover from the General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion 14 Tawau to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Tawau branch for further action.

Items seized included an IBC tank containing 650 litres of diesel, a 2-horsepower (2Hp) water pump, and an oil hose pipe approximately 27 metres in length.

Following the seizure, KPDN Tawau opened an investigation paper under the Supply Control Act 1961.

KPDN, in a statement, said it views seriously any misappropriation of controlled goods and warned individuals or companies to always comply with the provisions of the law in force.

According to the statement, individuals found guilty can be fined up to RM1 million for the first offence or up to RM3 million for subsequent offences, in addition to being jailed for up to three years, or both.

For companies, the fine can reach RM2 million for the first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences.

KPDN also reiterated its commitment to continue cooperating with other enforcement agencies in combating the misappropriation of controlled goods and ensuring firm action is taken against those who violate the law.
