KOTA KINABALU: 9 August 2026 — A total of 4,026 women entrepreneurs in Sabah have benefited from various programmes run by the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA) since 2022, including training, equipment grant assistance, promotion and marketing initiatives.

Women, Health and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki said the achievement reflected the positive impact of efforts to boost women’s economic empowerment in the state.

“These efforts must continue so that more women are not only able to start businesses but also grow from small-scale enterprises into more competitive ventures,” she said.

She added that the development of women entrepreneurs requires collaboration between the government, departments and agencies, financial institutions, the private sector and strategic partners. The goal is to provide more opportunities for Sabah’s women.

“We must ensure more women have access to knowledge, resources, technology and markets so they can compete in an increasingly challenging economy.

“When women are economically empowered, they are not only able to improve their own standard of living but also contribute to their families, communities and the development of Sabah,” she explained.

The event also saw the launch of the Biz Bloom platform, a rebranding of JHEWA’s entrepreneurship programme aimed at strengthening the empowerment of women entrepreneurs in Sabah.
