KEDAH: Sept 10, 2026 — A total of 140 illegal immigrants (PATI) of various nationalities were transferred and repatriated to their home countries via KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 yesterday.
The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in Kedah said in a statement that all of them had previously been detained at the Belantik Immigration Depot in Sik, Kedah.
They comprised 117 men, 21 women and two boys, who were nationals of Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Kenya.
All had committed offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963, and had completed their sentences before the transfer process was carried out.
They were also blacklisted in the JIM system to prevent them from attempting to re-enter Malaysia in the future.
The cost of flight tickets for the repatriation process was borne by the detainees, their family members and their respective embassies.
According to JIM Kedah, the transfer programme was part of ongoing enforcement efforts to curb the presence and activities of illegal immigrants in the country.
JIM Kedah stressed that enforcement, detection, detention, prosecution and repatriation of illegal immigrants would continue to be intensified to ensure the country’s security, public order and sovereignty remain safeguarded.
