Two bus company employees arrested over viral brawl at Inanam bus terminal

KOTA KINABALU: September 8, 2026 — Two bus company employees have been arrested by police following a brawl at the Inanam Bus Terminal that went viral on social media.

Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, ACP Shahrudin Mat Husain, said the police received a report regarding the incident on September 5, 2026.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 11.54am involving two bus workers, aged 38 and 37.

“The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding over passenger arrangements,” he said in a media statement.

Both men are believed to have exchanged punches using their hands, with no weapons involved. Initial checks found that they did not sustain any injuries.

Police arrested both men at about 2.30pm on September 6, 2026, to assist with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray.

Police have advised the public not to take actions that could disrupt public order. Any disputes should be resolved through proper channels.

Members of the public are also advised not to speculate, as it could affect the investigation.
