TAWAU: Jun 23, 2026 – The Permanent Food Production Park or Taman Kekal Pengeluaran Makanan (TKPM) Tawau is being further strengthened as an agricultural production and marketing hub, following the opening of ten new market stalls to help farmers market their crops in a more organised and competitive manner.

Sabah Minister of Youth Development, Sports and Creative Economy, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, said the facility was part of an ongoing effort to add value to the development of the TKPM Tawau site at Batu 13, Jalan Apas, while also helping to increase the income of local growers and entrepreneurs.

He noted that TKPM Tawau held significant potential to be developed as an agro-tourism destination capable of attracting visitors from both within Malaysia and abroad.

The construction of the stalls was carried out through collaboration and discussions with the Department of Agriculture to provide a more systematic marketing space for local producers.

The minister urged farmers and entrepreneurs to consistently market their agricultural produce in order to boost customer footfall and establish the area as a new attraction for tourists.

“Mastery of technology and digital platforms among agricultural entrepreneurs is vital, so that they are able to promote their own products more effectively while also introducing TKPM Tawau as a hub for fresh agricultural produce,” he added.

Also present at the opening were Sabah Agriculture Director Datuk TS Jifrin Mohamad, Tawau Municipal Council Deputy President Mohd Shoffian Mohd Said, Agriculture Department Deputy Director Jackson Ronald Jaimi, and Tawau District Agriculture Assistant Officer Abd Samat Injau.
