KOTA KINABALU: Oct 5, 2026 — The Ritma Kinabalu @ Rhythms of Kinabalu (ROK) 2026 programme showcases Sabah’s cultural identity through performances based on local legends, heritage and folklore.
Director-General of the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Mohd Amran Mohd Haris said the 12th edition of ROK highlights the legend of Aki Nabalu, Murut ethnic warriors, the story of Huminodun and the culture of Ratu Lepa.

He said Sabah’s ethnic diversity is showcased through performances for local communities as well as international tourists.
“The incorporation of cultural identity not only serves as a symbol of unity through the arts, but also as a platform to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) and Visit Sabah Year 2027,” he said.

According to Amran, Sabah is the 10th state to host the event before JKKN’s Cultural Tourism programme continues to Pahang, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak.

Also present were Sabah Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Dr Andi Md Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal; Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Razali Wahab; and Deputy Secretary-General of MOTAC (Culture) Datuk Mohd Yusri Mohd Yussof.
