KENINGAU: Oct 7, 2026 — A 36-year-old local man was arrested after he was found in possession of three plastic packets of various sizes containing crystalline lumps suspected to be syabu, weighing 54.72g and valued at RM6,019, in Sook.
The suspect was detained by a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Keningau District Police Headquarters at about 12.05am by the side of Jalan Batu 27, Keningau-Nabawan Road.
A search of the white Ford Ranger driven by the suspect led to the discovery of the three plastic packets suspected to contain syabu.
A further search inside the vehicle also found a sword hidden behind the passenger seat.
Police also seized a Ford Ranger and RM2,000 in cash.
The suspect is now remanded for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment, as well as not less than 15 strokes of the cane.
