Hajiji channels RM30,600 aid to Tawau flood victims

KOTA KINABALU: August 3, 2026 – Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has handed over RM30,600 in aid from the Sabah Welfare Foundation (YKS) to 102 heads of households affected by recent flooding in Tawau.

Each family received RM300 to help ease their burden. The contribution was delivered through Tawau Municipal Council President Mohd Shoffian Mohd Said.

Hajiji expressed appreciation to all disaster management personnel, including the Civil Defence Force (APM), police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Health Ministry (KKM) and the Tawau District Disaster Management Committee, for their commitment throughout rescue operations and the management of evacuation centres.

“Cooperation from all parties ensures the welfare of victims is always taken care of,” he said.

The floods affected 362 people, comprising 217 adults, 109 children, 28 elderly individuals and eight infants, who were evacuated to the Tawau Sports Complex Hall evacuation centre before being allowed to return home after conditions improved.
