PUTRAJAYA: July 27, 2026 – Kolej Vokasional (KV) Keningau has brought glory to Sabah after securing four awards at the national-level Vocational College Arts Festival (FESKOV), held at Shaftsbury in Putrajaya from 24 to 26 July.
The success saw KV Keningau clinch first place in the solo singing category, finish as first runner-up in the band category, and claim two Best Vocal Awards – one in each category.
The festival was organised by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division (BPLTV) and featured 15 contestants in the solo singing category and 10 teams in the band category.
KV Keningau’s band, D’ Buvazoi, comprises lead singer Ikmal Rezza J. Padasian, alongside Therrence Soan Roystan, David Benny Ujan Benjamin, Angelbert Lasung Smd Robert, Owen Hansen Anthonius and Jazryan Jasni. The group is mentored by two teachers, Syuaib Samijan and Bibiana Paulus.
In the solo singing competition, Ikmal Rezza performed Sampai Syurga, originally sung by Faizal Tahir, while D’ Buvazoi delivered a medley of Puteri, originally by Zainal Abidin, and Rolling in the Deep by Adele.
Ikmal Rezza took home a trophy, certificate and RM1,000 in prize money as champion of the solo category, while D’ Buvazoi received a trophy, certificate and RM1,000 after finishing as first runner-up.
The band also received RM500 and a plaque for each Best Vocal Award, bringing their total cash winnings to RM3,000.
The closing ceremony and prize presentation were officiated by the Director of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division, Ts. Zulkernai Fauzi.
Meanwhile, KV Keningau director Lumang anak Lang said he hoped the national-level achievement would inspire more students at the college to become active in the arts.
He added that the accomplishment had not only boosted students’ morale to take part in competitions, but had also opened up opportunities for them to perform at various official BPLTV events, including convocation ceremonies and the Entrepreneurship Carnival.
