PENAMPANG: July 2, 2026 – A 42-year-old foreign national woman has been found dead in an apartment unit along Jalan Penampang Lama after her employer was unable to reach her since Tuesday morning.
Penampang district police headquarters received a report regarding the discovery of the body at about 10pm on 30 June.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim’s employer went to her residence after failing to contact the woman, who worked as a hairdresser. Upon arrival, the door was found locked and there was no response from the victim.
Subsequently, police, with the assistance of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, forced open the door and found the victim dead inside the premises.
Investigations also found that the victim lived alone and had previously informed her employer that she was taking leave on 29 June and would return to work on 30 June.
A scene examination was conducted by the Penampang district CID together with the D10 Forensic Team from the Sabah contingent police headquarters.
The examination found no criminal elements linked to the incident.
The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report pending the results of a post-mortem examination and further investigations.
