PENAMPANG: Sept 18, 2026 – A 20-year-old foreign construction worker died after falling from the 20th floor of a building under construction at Jalan Bundusan here yesterday.
The Penampang District Police Chief said the incident occurred at about 10.40am while the victim was carrying out construction work on the 20th floor of the building.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD Penampang), together with the D10 Forensic Team from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Sabah), conducted an inspection at the scene.
The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital I, Kota Kinabalu, for a post-mortem to determine the actual cause of death.
The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR) pending the post-mortem results and further investigations.
The public is advised not to spread any speculation that could disrupt police investigations. They are also urged not to circulate photos or videos related to the incident out of respect for the sensitivities of the victim’s family and next-of-kin.
