KENINGAU: 16 July 2026 – Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, is scheduled to officiate the NeuroHope Programme at the SK Bingkor hall on 18 July.

The Chairman of the Bingkor Community Welfare Association, Hj Yazid Hj Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, said the programme aims to raise public awareness of neurodiversity and thereby strengthen community support for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

“This programme is open to the public, particularly parents, teachers, students and the local community who wish to gain exposure to issues relating to special education and mental wellbeing,” he said.

Activities on offer include a Rahmah Sale, health screenings, eye checks, as well as exhibitions from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Keningau Hospital.

Visitors will also have the chance to take part in a lucky draw, watch cultural performances and a performance by local artist Rosaria Bianus.

Knowledge-sharing sessions will also be held, including talks entitled “Embracing Neurodivergence” and “Parental Mental Health”, to be delivered by Keningau Hospital Psychiatrist, Dr Isabella Rosselline.

The hospital’s Occupational Therapy Unit will conduct therapy sessions, while Dr Velerie will share effective teaching approaches to help special needs students reach their optimum potential.

Mr Yazid said the Chief Minister’s attendance recognises efforts to raise community awareness of special education, neurodiversity and mental health. It also reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting initiatives for special needs groups and their families.

The organisers hope NeuroHope can become an ongoing platform to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in supporting the wellbeing and potential of neurodivergent individuals in Sabah.

Members of the public are invited to attend the SK Bingkor hall on 18 July for more information about the programme.
