KENINGAU: Nov 4, 2026 – The MADANI Generation Leadership Camp for Vocational Colleges (KV) in the Sabah Zone and Federal Territory (F.T.) of Labuan successfully gathered 90 students from nine vocational colleges through a three-day programme at Keningau Riverfront Park, Bandukan, Keningau, from 30 October to 1 November.
The inaugural programme aimed to cultivate an appreciation of the Malaysia MADANI concept and to develop leadership skills, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving among students.
The programme, organised by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division (BPLTV) of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, saw KV Keningau act as host.
Among the main activities were field study and social responsibility activities that brought participants to several nearby villages to learn about and understand the socio-economic challenges faced by the local community.

Through these activities, participants had the opportunity to interview and assist several families, identify issues and propose solutions based on the situations they encountered.
Cultural events also drew attention through traditional dance performances of various ethnic groups in Sabah and the F.T. of Labuan. There were also short plays highlighting historical events and folklore in the zone.
Participants also took part in foot drill training conducted by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and various group activities, enhancing discipline and team spirit.

The camp’s closing ceremony was officiated by Christine Stanislaus Kinsik, representative of the directors of vocational colleges in the Sabah and Labuan Zone, who is also Director of KV Sandakan 2 and former Director of KV Keningau.
Meanwhile, KV Keningau Deputy Academic Director Amirul Ahuar Abdullah said the programme was capable of shaping participants into individuals who are more caring towards the community around them.
“Through this camp, participants can become more caring towards the community around them and utilise the skills learned at vocational colleges to help the local community,” he said.
Amirul expressed hope that the experience gained throughout the programme would encourage participants to use their vocational knowledge and skills to contribute to society.
