KOTA KINABALU: Nov 2, 2026 – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) has handed over nine electricity supply projects completed in 2025 to the Sabah State Government through Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SE).
PETRA Secretary-General Datuk Sri Haji Mad Zaidi bin Mohd Karli said the handover reflected the government’s commitment to providing quality infrastructure to the people.
“This ceremony not only marks the completion of the projects implemented, but also reflects the commitment of all parties in fulfilling the government’s trust,” he said at the handover ceremony at Le Meridien Hotel here today.
He said the implementation of the projects was part of the government’s responsibility to ensure the people of Sabah enjoy better and more reliable electricity supply.
“Every project implemented must translate into real benefits for the people and further support the development and wellbeing of Sabah,” he said.
Mad Zaidi expressed appreciation to the Sabah State Government, SE and local authorities for their close cooperation throughout the implementation of the projects.
“Good cooperation among all parties is crucial in ensuring every obstacle can be overcome so that the results can be translated into benefits for the people,” he said.
He hoped the facilities and infrastructure provided would strengthen the electricity supply system and benefit residents across Sabah.
He said the effort was in line with the Madani Government’s slogan “Mengapai di langit, mengakar di bumi” (Reaching for the sky, rooted in the earth) in improving the people’s quality of life through quality, safe and reliable basic infrastructure.
Mad Zaidi also appreciated the commitment of the project team in facing challenges, including the electricity supply system that was not yet robust and Sabah’s unique terrain.
“The success in completing these projects proves that with good planning, close cooperation and the commitment of all parties, implementation challenges can be effectively addressed,” he said.
He hoped the Sabah Electricity Supply Special Project Team (PPKBES) together with all stakeholders would continue to give their best commitment to ensuring Sabah’s electricity supply projects are implemented in an orderly, quality manner and within the stipulated timeframe.
Also present were Sabah Ministry of Works and Utilities Permanent Secretary Datuk Ridhwan Roger Linus, representing the Sabah State Secretary; Sabah Energy Commission (ECoS) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir. Abdul Nasser bin Abdul Wahid; and SE Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir. Mohd Yaakob bin Haji Jaafar.
