KUALA LUMPUR: Oct 17, 2026 – A total of 190 foreign nationals were detained by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in Ops Gegar at an entertainment centre in the Kampung Pandan area early this morning.
The operation by JIM’s Enforcement Division, which began at about 4 am, involved 107 officers of various ranks in cooperation with the National Registration Department (JPN).
The operation director said 235 foreign nationals were inspected during the operation, with 190 individuals comprising 99 men and 91 women aged between 20 and 41 detained on suspicion of committing various immigration offences.
“Those detained comprised Indonesian, Bangladeshi and Indian nationals,” he said.
All the individuals were taken to the KLIA Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action.
The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
JIM stressed that enforcement operations will continue to be intensified to detect foreign nationals without valid travel documents or passes, overstaying, as well as misusing passes.
Action will also be taken against employers or parties found to have employed, protected or abetted illegal immigrants (PATI) under the provisions of the law in force.
