TAWAU: Sept 1, 2026 – Police have arrested a 21-year-old foreign national on suspicion of stealing motorcycle components from a workshop at Batu 4, Jalan Apas, Tawau.
The arrest was made after police received a report regarding the loss of several motorcycle components from the workshop.
Investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have taken advantage of the premises being empty of workers before making off with motorcycle components that were in the parking area.
Among the items seized were motorcycle rims with white tyres, batteries, CDI units, brake drums, hubs, and shafts.
Further checks revealed that the suspect also has a prior criminal record under Section 15(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and had previously been sentenced.
The case is now being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code to determine the suspect’s involvement and the full circumstances of the incident.
Police have advised premises owners to step up security measures, including installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and ensuring that premises are not left unattended.
