PUTATAN: Aug 29, 2026 – Leaders and the community have been called upon to embrace and practise the teachings of the Al-Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW to preserve harmony in a multiracial and multi-religious society, during the Islamic Arts Festival and Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday Celebration at the Putatan District level, held at Dewan Sri Putatan on Thursday.
Petagas State Assemblyman, Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Datuk Awang Sahari, said a deep understanding of Islamic teachings is crucial to ensure that administrative affairs, economic development, and children’s education are carried out with full responsibility.

“The same applies to today’s leaders – they should and must practise whatever is taught through the Al-Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah.
“We cannot assume that because we are Muslims, because we are the majority, we should sideline others or pay less attention to them,” he said.

He also urged leaders at all levels to lead with sincerity and to remain free from all forms of injustice and oppression.
Awang Ahmad said the Maulidur Rasul celebration should not merely be an annual event, but rather a platform for the community to reflect on the struggle of Prophet Muhammad SAW and draw lessons from it.
At the event, the Putatan Integrasi State Religious School (SAN) was named champion of the Best Banner Competition, while the Nurul Ihsan Mosque in Kg. Ketiau won Best Contingent in the open category, and SMK Putatan won the school category.
