KUCHING: August 12, 2026 – The 53rd Sarawak Schools Sports Council (MSSS) Athletics Championship 2026, scheduled to take place at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Stadium from 10 to 14 August, has been postponed following the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings reaching unhealthy levels in the Samarahan district.
The Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) stated in a media release that the decision was made to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of athletes and education personnel involved in the championship are safeguarded.
JPNS also took into account the hot weather conditions currently affecting the country and the unhealthy API readings recorded at several locations in Sarawak.
A new date for the championship will be announced later.
