TAWAU: Aug 6, 2026 – Three men, including two foreigners, have been arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine in three separate operations conducted under Ops Tapis by the Tawau District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division yesterday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said two suspects were detained at Batu 5, Jalan Apas at approximately 2.10pm, while the third was arrested in front of a house at Batu 5½, Jalan Apas around 5pm.
Checks revealed three packets and one small transparent plastic packet containing substances believed to be syabu with a total weight of 0.72 grammes, which were concealed inside a cigarette box in the suspects’ possession.
All three suspects comprise two foreign nationals aged in their 20s and 50s, and a 34-year-old local man.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Police have also urged the public to channel information to assist in combating drug-related crime in the district.
