Full rollout of 10-year passports begins in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: August 5, 2026 — Residents of Sabah can now apply for the new version of the Malaysian International Passport, which is valid for up to 10 years, at all Immigration Department offices and UTCs across the state, following the expansion of the service on 1 August.

The facility offers two validity options — five or 10 years — providing greater flexibility for applicants according to their needs.

The implementation was marked by a symbolic handover of the new passport from Azizah S. Ahmad, Head of the Security and Passport Division at the Immigration Department headquarters, to Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof, Director of the Sabah State Immigration Department. The event was witnessed by Deputy Director of Management, Mat Reo Oredi.

Members of the public wishing to obtain the new passport may visit any Immigration office or nearby UTC, adhering to the prescribed application requirements and procedures.

The Sabah State Immigration Department said it would continue to strengthen service delivery to ensure it remains efficient, effective and customer-friendly, in line with the aspirations of the MADANI government.
