BEAUFORT, 15 July 2026 – A tourist van carrying visitors from China was involved in a collision with a Perodua Axia at kilometre 21 of the Beaufort–Papar road, near Kampung Gana in Membakut, yesterday.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred when the tourist van, while attempting to overtake another vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car.
As a result of the crash, both drivers and several passengers who sustained injuries were taken to Membakut Health Clinic and Beaufort Hospital for further treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while further inquiries are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
