KOTA KINABALU: July 12, 2026 – On the same stage, artistic legends and sporting icons stood side by side. In the same hall, academics, entrepreneurs, and civil servants received their due recognition. The Anugerah Gemilang Maju Jaya (AGMJ) 2026, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) yesterday, proved that service and dedication transcend professional boundaries—reflecting a pluralistic society that values contributions from all quarters.
Among the distinguished names in attendance were Datuk Deddy M. Borhan, Stacy, Ayu Damit, Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim, Dato’ Ramli Sarip, Dato’ Freddy Fernandez, and national diving legend Datuk Pandalela Rinong. They were but a few of the diverse faces celebrated that evening.
Also honoured were scholars, media professionals, and individuals who have made their mark on the international stage—reinforcing the true spirit of the programme: recognition for all, regardless of race or background.
The glittering ceremony was officiated by the wife of the Sabah Chief Minister, Her Excellency Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hjh Juliah Salag, who also serves as Chairperson of Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat Sabah (MUTIARA GRS).
In her address, the founder and organising chairman of AGMJ, Dato Paduka Rehan Hj Rahim, emphasised that the collaboration between NGOs, government bodies, and agencies aims to cultivate a culture of appreciating excellence.
“Indeed, tonight’s recognition is not merely an award. It is a symbol of care, a symbol of unity, and a symbol of harmony among the diverse races, religions, and strata of our society,” she said, welcoming guests and award recipients.
Rehan also reminded the audience that the awards were not intended for individuals alone, but also represented an appreciation for countless others who have contributed silently.
“However, I believe there are still many out there who deserve recognition. Thus, those honoured tonight not only represent themselves, but also stand as symbols of appreciation for all those who have served and contributed,” she added.
She expressed her hope that AGMJ would serve as a platform for building legacies and inspiring future generations.
“May all the efforts we begin today become a meaningful inheritance for generations to come,” she said.
With its diverse array of recipients, AGMJ 2026 was more than just a glittering evening—it was a testament that every act of service, in whatever field, is remembered and valued.
