“HOMARTS plays a vital role in nurturing more musical talent in the district through systematic education and training.

“Tambunan is indeed known as a district that produces many talented singers and musicians, but music education is essential to strengthen skills and open up opportunities for the younger generation to explore the field more professionally,” said Tambunan District Officer Azri Jaini Jeffrey.

He added that as the first music school in Tambunan, HOMARTS now has 12 instructors and more than 100 students from various backgrounds, including persons with disabilities, and is equipped with facilities such as a recital hall, music studios and a wind orchestra.

At the event, Azri also announced the Tambunan District Office’s plan to collaborate with HOMARTS and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to organise a larger-scale music concert at Pisompuruan Square next year.

Meanwhile, Tambunan Music Organisation chairman Arddley Nicholas said the annual concert was not only about giving students performance opportunities, but also about building their confidence, discipline and experience performing in front of an audience.

“HOMARTS, which is now officially registered as the Tambunan Music Organisation, will continue to expand collaborations with various parties to strengthen music development and produce more young talent in the district,” he said.
