BANGKOK: June 30, 2026 – A Form Three student from Sabah has received the highest honour at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) conference in Bangkok, adding to her international track record.

Alexa Elayndra Adrian Validy, a student of Sekolah Menengah Maktab Sabah, was named “The Best Delegate” in the World Health Organization (WHO) council during the conference, held from 26 to 29 June.

“I represented WHO council on Safeguarding Indigenous Knowledge of Traditional Medicine While Ensuring Scientific Validation,” she said in a statement.

“I hope more participants from Sabah will join such program and that Sabah will have its own team for Model of United Nation in the future,” she added.

The Best Delegate award is regarded as the highest recognition presented to participants for their performance in committee debates, diplomacy, leadership and policy-making throughout the conference.

The event was attended by the Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand, His Excellency Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah.

Alexa received a certificate, a trophy and a scholarship to the next AYIMUN competition in Bali this year.

The latest accolade marks her fourth award at AYIMUN. She had previously won the “Honourable Mention” and “Best Position Paper” awards in earlier editions of the international conference.
