KOTA KINABALU: June 16, 2026 – Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) has stepped up its preparations for the upcoming General Election (PRU) with the appointment of six zone chairmen to coordinate operations and monitor the party machinery across Sabah.
The party’s president, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said the decision was reached during a party meeting which also focused on early preparations for the forthcoming election, even though the current parliamentary term is only expected to end towards the end of next year.
He said the appointment of the zone chairmen was aimed at obtaining reports on the state of readiness of party divisions according to designated areas.
He himself has been appointed to lead Zone One, which covers the parliamentary constituencies of Kudat, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud and Tuaran. Zone Two, encompassing Sepanggar, Penampang and Putatan, will be chaired by Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Anifah Aman has been given responsibility for Zone Three, covering Papar, Kimanis, Beaufort and Sipitang, while Datuk Seri Panglima Joachim Gunsalam will lead Zone Four, which includes Ranau, Keningau, Pensiangan and Tenom.
Zone Five, covering Sandakan, Batu Sapi, Libaran, Beluran and Kinabatangan, will be chaired by Datuk Chin Su Phin. Zone Six, encompassing Tawau, Kalabakan, Lahad Datu and Semporna, will be led by Tan Sri Liu Yong Foo.
In addition to monitoring the preparedness of party divisions, the appointed zone chairmen have also been tasked with carrying out various other duties to ensure Gagasan Rakyat is in a state of readiness for the election.
Hajiji said the move was part of the party’s ongoing efforts to streamline its organisational structure and strengthen its machinery in all parliamentary constituencies in Sabah as early preparation for the upcoming General Election.
