KOTA KINABALU : 9 June 2026 – The Sabah state government will strengthen cooperation among various agencies to address current consumer challenges, including online scams, the rising cost of living, food safety, and digital transactions.

Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing, Datuk Julita Majungki, said the approach is important as consumer-related issues today cut across multiple sectors and cannot be resolved by a single agency alone.

She said this while chairing the Sabah State Consumer Movement (GPN) meeting today.

According to Julita, the growing use of digital platforms has increased the risks of online fraud, misuse of personal data, and the spread of false information.

“Scammers move fast. Therefore, awareness and action from all parties must move even faster,” she said.

She added that efforts to enhance digital literacy and consumer awareness will remain a key focus through collaboration among ministries, enforcement agencies, and consumer organisations.

Julita also stressed that issues related to the cost of living and food safety will continue to receive attention to ensure that consumers’ welfare and interests are protected.

“Knowledgeable consumers are empowered consumers. This is the foundation of more effective consumer protection,” she said.

She added that the Sabah State Consumer Movement (GPN) will continue to serve as a strategic coordination platform to strengthen integrated action between government agencies and strategic partners on consumer-related matters.
