BEAUFORT: August 9, 2026 – A total of 35 special children from the Beaufort District Community-Based Rehabilitation Organisation (PPDK) were celebrated through the Education Cluster 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) Programme at the PPDK Centre here, providing an opportunity for persons with special needs to experience the joy of the National Day and Sabah Day (HKHS) celebrations.
Beaufort PPDK Chairman, Malik Yusof, said that special children should not be marginalised but instead must continue to be embraced and given opportunities to participate in community activities together.

“This is one of the efforts to strengthen the values of compassion, volunteerism, and ensure that persons with special needs continue to receive attention through various activities that benefit them,” he said when officiating the programme on Thursday.
He said the programme is among the activities lined up in conjunction with the Beaufort District-level Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Tour, alongside the Bakti Madani programme conducted with PPDK staff and trainees.
He added that colouring and picture puzzle activities with a independence theme not only unleash creativity but also instil a spirit of patriotism and love for the country.

“This programme also provides space for special children to interact and communicate with their families and the community in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere,” he said.
Malik said involvement in community activities also helps boost the confidence of persons with special needs and encourages them to be more active in community life.
He expressed hope that such initiatives would raise public awareness that special children have their own potential and should not be sidelined.
