KOTA KINABALU: July 26, 2026: Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Salleh Said Keruak has urged Barisan Nasional’s Sabah chapter to defend the state government’s policies and the leadership of Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.
Salleh made the remarks while opening the Kota Kinabalu UMNO delegates meeting on Saturday.
“When we are together in government, we must also stand together in defending the government,” he said, adding that this would ensure stability and maintain public confidence.
Salleh said BN Sabah should support efforts to deliver development and address issues affecting the people.
He stressed that political stability was particularly important for the state, enabling the authorities to concentrate on economic growth, infrastructure, employment and public welfare.
The former chief minister also called for continued cooperation between BN and the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition, based on mutual respect and the broader interests of the state.
“Our priority must remain the stability of the government, the interests of Sabah and the well-being of the people,” Salleh told delegates.
BN and GRS are key partners in the Sabah state administration. The call for unity comes against a backdrop of occasional political realignments in the East Malaysian state, where coalition loyalties have shifted in recent years.
