KUALA LUMPUR: Oct 10, 2026 – The Federal Government is maintaining its highest commitment to the development of the Borneo region by allocating the largest sum in history through Budget 2027 tabled in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Sabah receives a development allocation of RM18.7 billion, an increase from the RM17.6 billion received by the state throughout this year.
Sarawak is allocated RM16.2 billion, a jump from the RM15.1 billion channelled to the Land of the Hornbills previously.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that the provision of large-scale development funds is a continuing commitment of the government under the Malaysia Madani concept to drive local economic growth.
“So, that is the concept translated in the matter of allocations to states so that regions still lagging behind are given the strength to close the gap. Not everyone receives the same thing, but each state receives what is reasonable and appropriate to enable its people to progress as well,” he said.
He said the inclusive distribution of allocations proves the concept of equitable development to ensure the Borneo region is able to narrow the infrastructure gap and together enjoy the nation’s progress.
