PENAMPANG: July 14, 2026 – Police are investigating an act of mischief involving a prayer hut in the Sinundu Miracle Hill area, Kampung Duvanson, Putatan, after the premises were found in disarray with several items believed to have been damaged by unidentified individuals.
Penampang District Police Chief, Superintendent Sammy bin Newton, said a report regarding the incident was received on 13 July, and further investigations have since been initiated.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that several items inside the prayer hut had been damaged and moved, leaving the premises in a state of disarray,” he said.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief causing damage to property, and Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling or damaging a place of worship or sacred object with intent to insult a religion.
According to him, investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible, as well as to gather related evidence.
