KUALA LUMPUR: Oct 16, 2026 – A total of 29 individuals were detained in Op Mega TikTok 2026, carried out by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) from 10 to 12 October, involving 11 police contingents in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The operation aimed to curb the spread of propaganda by organisations gazetted as unlawful through social media platforms in order to safeguard national security.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), through PDRM, stressed its commitment to continue firm enforcement against organised criminal activities that could threaten public order.
Minister of Home Affairs, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stressed that national security cannot be compromised. Firm enforcement, together with community support, is important to curb criminal activities.
PDRM is continuing investigations to identify the role of each individual detained, including their possible involvement in other criminal activities.
The public is reminded not to spread propaganda of unlawful organisations or content that could potentially cause public alarm.
Instead, information related to criminal activities should be channelled through official PDRM channels or the nearest police station for further action.
Community cooperation is very important in ensuring national security continues to be safeguarded. Security is a shared responsibility.
