KOTA KINABALU: Aug 14, 2026 – ERA Sabah radio presenter Ema Suhaimi is making a return to singing after 16 years in the entertainment industry with her latest single “Tersakiti” (Hurt), which she produced herself as a platform to give voice to those who have gone through painful experiences.
Ema said singing is one of her greatest passions, and she now wishes to revive something she had once put on hold.
According to her, “Tersakiti” is not her first song since becoming a singer, but it is her first self-produced work.
She said the song was created because she believes many people still choose to remain silent and find it difficult to express what they have been through.
“So perhaps this song ‘Tersakiti’ can be a voice for those who have been in situations hard to put into words,” she said.
Reflecting on her 16-year journey in the industry, Ema said her life experiences – including ups and downs, losses and the opportunities she received – have greatly shaped who she is today.
Ema also admitted to feeling somewhat awkward and nervous about having her own song heard by listeners, after so many years of introducing other artistes’ works as a radio presenter.
She said the main challenge in producing “Tersakiti” was managing time for recording sessions and music video production, as well as budget constraints.
Ema hopes the song will be well-received and serve as a voice for those who have been hurt.
“I want people out there to know the Ema of today – not just the voice on the radio, but a voice that can speak for them,” she said.
