LAHAD DATU, Malaysia, 23 June 2026 – A 40-year-old foreign national has been arrested after police seized 50.75 grammes of methamphetamine during a raid conducted under Operation Tapis in Kampung Sharip Simunul, Jalan Silam, on Monday.
The raid, carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters, led to the suspect’s detention and the confiscation of eight transparent plastic packets containing what is believed to be methamphetamine.
The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM5,582.50.
An initial urine screening test found the suspect to be positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking activities, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug abuse.
Police are now conducting further investigations to trace the source of the drug supply and identify other individuals believed to be involved in the trafficking network.
