KENINGAU: Sept 5, 2026 — Eight Business Management students from Keningau Vocational College (KV Keningau) have successfully published two studies related to their environmental projects in the 2026 edition of the Journal of Civilisational Studies (JAWHAR), focusing on a fruit-based cleaning product.
The studies, published by the Academy of Civilisational Studies (AKK), evaluated the effectiveness of a product dubbed “Mr. Wishy Washy,” which is produced through the fermentation of fruit pulp and peels that are no longer fit for consumption.
One study examined consumer feedback on the product, while the second identified factors that encourage youth participation in volunteer clean-up activities using the product in public areas.
The findings showed that “Mr. Wishy Washy” is effective in cleaning rough surfaces without producing excessive odour or foam, and also has the potential to boost youth involvement in community-beneficial volunteer work.
KV Keningau Director Lumang anak Lang said the publication of the two studies proves that student projects not only benefit the environment and community but can also be further developed through academic research.
“This is a proud achievement as students not only produced an innovation but also conducted research and published their findings,” he said.
The eight students involved are Mohd Afiq Adam, Nur Syaidattul Akma, Mohd Azerin Zepin @ Sion, Syehekeel Daniel Hanry, Adib Irfan Tony, Mubashir Jilin, Faiz Akif Shahmi Rujili and Sheera Adriani Usop.
They were guided by several KV Keningau teachers and Keningau Nature Farm founder Jason Wong Kok Ming.
