KUDAT: Oct 28, 2026 – A 56-year-old Filipino contractor died after he was believed to have been electrocuted while carrying out installation and repair work on lights near the gate of SJK (C) Lok Yuk, Batu 1, Kudat, yesterday morning.
The incident was reported to have occurred at about 8.20 am. Police received information and rushed to the location to conduct investigations.
Initial inspection found the victim lying in the area outside the school gate.
Based on initial information, the victim is believed to have been electrocuted and fallen after the ladder he was using touched an electrical cable.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.
The body was taken to the Forensic Department of Kudat Hospital for further action.
Kudat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the case was classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).
Police are conducting further investigations to determine the actual circumstances of the incident.
