PAPAR: Oct 17, 2026 – Korporasi Pembangunan Desa (KPD) is targeting RM100 million in sales this year after recording sales of approximately RM106 million last year.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries Datuk Jamawi Jaafar said the target is believed to be achievable based on the various agricultural and agro-food enterprise activities carried out by KPD together with village communities.

He said KPD is undertaking various activities including dairy goat farming, ice cream and goat product production, mushroom cultivation, free-range and broiler chicken farming, and a 400-hectare fruit orchard in Kampung Lingkungan.

“For me, I am satisfied with the activities carried out by KPD and hopefully this year they will once again achieve the RM100 million sales target,” he told reporters after officiating the KPD 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration Carnival at the KPD West Coast Regional Office here today.

Jamawi said the produce of village communities marketed through KPD tamu and various similar activities is part of efforts to develop the microeconomy at the community level.

He said the effort benefits farming communities, livestock breeders and those active in the agro-food sector, besides helping to market local products.

Commenting on the response to the carnival, he said the presence of visitors as early as 7.30 am showed encouraging response even though promotion was only done through Facebook and social media.

He said the carnival is a side activity to enliven the 50th anniversary celebration of KPD and is not the usual KPD tamu event, which typically receives wider promotion.

He also purchased several products from participants, including mushrooms and fruits, as a sign of support for local entrepreneurs.

Jamawi hoped such support would inject enthusiasm into the community to continue participating in agricultural activities with KPD.

Meanwhile, he said he will continue his working visit to Tenom by attending several programmes, including officiating a programme at Pekan Tenom Mosque at 10 am, attending a meeting and coffee festival, and visiting several houses affected by floods and fire.

He is also scheduled to spend the night with about 200 participants of an international camping programme at Taman Pertanian Sabah, involving camping enthusiasts from Kalimantan, Sarawak, Brunei and the southern Philippines.

According to him, the programme also serves as a platform to introduce and promote Taman Pertanian Sabah as a tourism destination friendly to camping and hiking enthusiasts.

Also present were Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Maria David Edick; KPD Deputy General Manager, Andree Alexander Funk and former KPD General Manager, Kalimin Sahidi.
