TUARAN: Oct 10, 2026 – More than 5,000 participants flooded the Padang Istiadat here from early morning to make the Sabah State-level National Sports Day (HSN) 2026 celebration a success.
The annual event was officiated by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
Sabah Minister of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Industries Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan expressed pride at the community support that filled the field.
He stressed that the main message behind HSN 2026 was to raise public awareness of the importance of sports and to make physical activity a daily practice for the well-being of the state.
“The Chief Minister’s presence today reflects the government’s strong commitment to prioritising an active and healthy lifestyle among all Sabahans,” he told reporters.
Nizam hoped all Sabahans, regardless of age, race or religion, would together maintain the active momentum at all times, not only during seasonal programmes.
The programme featured a MADANI Fun Walk along the main route, joined by Hajiji together with federal and state department heads.
Visitors were also treated to various activities including children’s telematch, chess, carrom, tug-of-war, lion dance performances, e-sports matches and Jualan Rahmah counters.
The climax of the field events was enlivened by the Perdana Aerobics session, MADANI Fun Run, penalty shootout, aerobic dance performances and a lucky draw offering various attractive prizes.
The atmosphere was further brightened by an energetic silat martial arts performance specially presented by outstanding athletes from the Sabah Malaysian Games (SUKMA) squad.
