TAMBUNAN: Sept 22, 2026 — Kembara Kitchen Sabah aims to expand food aid to all districts in Sabah after successfully distributing thousands of food sets to disaster victims and rescue personnel.
The initiative saw free food aid handed over to the Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Tambunan) on 14 September.
Its Sabah co-founder, Steavaynie Ginadus, 24, said the community service programme was part of their business commitment, channelling operational goals towards helping the less fortunate.
“As a native of Kampung Pupuluton, Tambunan, I am giving back to firefighters in my own district before expanding this mission across Sabah,” she said.
According to Steavaynie, ready-to-eat (RTE) meal products are specially designed for emergency situations as they last up to 18 months without refrigeration.
“During disasters, victims are often stranded without electricity or cooking equipment. Our products can be opened and eaten without cooking,” she said.
Last year, 25,000 food sets were sent to the Sabah market.
Since the local branch began operations, another 5,000 to 6,000 food sets have been distributed, including the largest distribution to victims and Sandakan Fire and Rescue personnel during a major fire in Kampung Bahagia.
Besides the Fire and Rescue Department, the distribution targets involve the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the B40 group.
Kembara Kitchen plans to bring the Kembara Community Centre (K3C) concept, currently operating in Shah Alam, to Sabah.
The community centre will supply daily basic necessities such as disposable diapers, infant formula, clothing and raw food ingredients to those in need.
