KUCHING: Sept 9, 2026 – The Sarawak government has allocated RM100,000 to each family of the Doctor Air Service personnel who perished in the helicopter crash near Long Lellang on Monday.
Premier Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg also agreed to bear the education fees of the victims’ school-going children through the Sarawak Foundation.
The personnel were on a mission to deliver healthcare services to interior communities without road access. In a statement, the state government said their service, dedication, courage and sacrifice in carrying out their duties for the well-being of the people, especially those in the rural interior, were invaluable.
The Sarawak government extended its deepest condolences to the families and next-of-kin, adding that their passing was a great loss to the people of Sarawak. The contribution is a sign of concern to help ease the burden of the bereaved families, while their service and sacrifice will always be remembered.
