KOTA KINABALU: September 4, 2026 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sabah Contingent continues to intensify efforts to curb drug smuggling and trafficking in the state to prevent Sabah from being used as a transit point by syndicates, through enforcement and collaboration with relevant agencies, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun yesterday.
He said these efforts are carried out through sustained enforcement actions and continuous cooperation with agencies in tackling drug influx into Sabah.
“PDRM will continue its efforts to curb drug entry into Sabah, while the seizures made so far also demonstrate the results of collaboration with other agencies.
“We hope that agencies will continue to cooperate with PDRM to overcome the problem of Sabah being used as a transit point for drug trafficking syndicates,” he added.
Jauteh was speaking to reporters after paying a courtesy call on Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu.
He added that PDRM Sabah is also strengthening its Community Policing approach to raise awareness among the public, particularly the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse.
Several Community Policing programmes will be conducted to educate the community on staying away from drug abuse and to encourage them to channel information to the police if they detect drug-related activities in their areas, he said.
The courtesy call also served to introduce the new line-up of officers who will head several key departments at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters.
Also present were Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin; Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Mohd Hafiz Ya’acob; Head of the Logistics and Information Technology Department Wong Leong Meng; Head of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai; as well as District Police Chief Shahrudin Mat Husain.
