PITAS: Aug 27, 2026 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) Sabah handed over zakat wakalah contributions to four mosques and 20 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) on Monday through the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) programme, aimed at assisting communities in need across Sabah.
The presentation was carried out via the TM Sabah and WP Labuan Islamic Welfare Body (BAKIT TM Sabah & WP Labuan) under the Houses of Worship cluster.
The recipients included Masjid Ar-Rahim in Keningau, Masjid Felda Umas in Kalabakan, Masjid Pengiran Haji Abdul Karim in Kampung Kalumpang, Pitas, and Masjid Jamek Kampung Penampang in Kota Belud.
Also receiving assistance were 20 asnaf from Kampung Kalumpang, Pitas, with the handover conducted by Bengkoka State Assemblyman Datuk Harun Durabi at Masjid Pengiran Haji Abdul Karim on Monday.
According to TM, the initiative reflects the company’s concern for community well-being through aid that directly benefits local residents.
“This effort also supports the role of mosques as centres of worship, community development and social unity, while serving as a platform for TM to engage with grassroots communities,” the company said in a statement.
TM’s involvement in KMJG also aligns with efforts to foster patriotism and love for the nation, while instilling values of unity, care and shared responsibility among the community.
Also present at the handover were BAKIT TM Sabah representative and TM Sabah Marketing and Public Relations Manager Nurul Izza Ripin, Sabah State Information Department Director Jainisah Mohd Noor, Masjid Pengiran Haji Abdul Karim Deputy Chairman Johan Amin, and KMJG convoy participants.
