TAWAU: August 19, 2026 – Controlled subsidised goods valued at approximately RM104,138.40 were seized by the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 14 Tawau during an operation along Jalan Inderasabah, Tawau yesterday, after the owner failed to produce a permit for the possession of the items.
The seizure involved 220 litres of petrol, 12 LPG cylinders, 340 kilogrammes of cooking oil, along with a white Toyota Hilux Single Cab vehicle.
All confiscated items were subsequently handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Tawau branch for further action.
KPDN Tawau has opened an investigation paper under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, issuing a stern warning to individuals and companies to comply with the law and refrain from involvement in the misappropriation of controlled goods.
If convicted, individuals face a fine of up to RM1 million for a first offence and up to RM3 million for subsequent offences, or imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
Companies, meanwhile, may be liable for a fine of up to RM2 million for a first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences.
KPDN also reiterated its commitment to collaborating with other enforcement agencies in combating the misappropriation of controlled goods and ensuring that firm action is taken against those who violate the law.
