KOTA KINABALU: Aug 17, 2026 — A total of 22 prospective former inmates of the Kota Kinabalu Women’s Prison have received the Kit Mekar Dinamik @ Wanita Bangkit Bersasar (WBB) assistance package. The aid equips them to generate their own income upon release, thereby opening opportunities to start a new life.
“Every woman deserves a chance to rebuild her life,” said Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Nancy Shukri during a visit to the programme in Sabah.
The kits received by participants come in four types: the Bakery Set, Sewing Set, Frozen Food Set and Reflexology Set. The equipment is distributed according to each individual’s skills.
The Bakery Set enables participants to make cakes and biscuits, while the Sewing Set is suitable for tailoring clothing. The Frozen Food Set opens up business opportunities in frozen food, and the Reflexology Set provides skills in health therapy.
The programme, run by YKN in collaboration with the Malaysian Prison Department, has been implemented since 2024 to help female prospects secure a source of income after their release.
From 2024 to 2026, the programme has recorded 3,584 beneficiaries through its various implementations.
